What is Physical Therapy?

A question I get asked a lot is…What is Physical Therapy???

Here at Performance Therapy Center, our view is that Physical Therapists help people transform their lives! Most people come to us with a variety of problems that often include pain, stiffness, or weakness. Our goal is to teach you how to prevent or manage your condition so that you will achieve long-term health benefits.

We identify your condition by conducting a thorough evaluation and creating a specialized plan of care to help you correct the situation. This may include modalities such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation, cold laser, or ultrasound. Treatments frequently include joint/soft tissue mobilization (stretching joints or muscles through direct contact) and exercises to improve flexibility, strength, endurance, or balance.

Recent studies have shown that Physical Therapy is a beneficial alternative to pain killers (Opiods). The studies find that patients choosing Physical Therapy, rather than initially taking pain medication, have a 90% chance of never needing that type of medication.

Stay tuned for future posts as we delve into specific problems and show you how to deal with them. Thanks for visiting!
